About ObserverFile
ObserverFile is an independent digital news and analysis platform committed to political accountability journalism in India.
We exist because independent investigative journalism in India is shrinking — not because the stories are disappearing, but because fewer outlets are willing to tell them without fear or favour. Corporate ownership, political patronage, and advertising pressures have quietly narrowed the space for journalism that holds power to account.
ObserverFile was built to occupy that space.
What We Do
We report on national politics, governance, public policy, and the exercise of power — with a particular focus on West Bengal, one of India’s most politically significant yet underreported states in the English-language press.
We do not break news for the sake of it. We dig deeper, connect patterns, follow documents, and ask the questions that survive the news cycle.
Every story published on ObserverFile is guided by three principles:
Independence — We have no political affiliations, no corporate backers, and no advertiser relationships that influence our editorial decisions. What we publish is determined entirely by what matters to our readers.
Accountability — We believe that journalism’s primary function is to hold those in power responsible for their actions — regardless of party, ideology, or popularity.
Depth — We choose context over speed. A story that explains why something happened is more valuable than one that only reports what happened.

Editorial Standards
Every article published on ObserverFile is fact-checked before publication. We rely on primary sources — official documents, court records, government data, and on-record statements. Where information is disputed, we present all sides. Where something cannot be independently verified, we say so.
We correct errors promptly and transparently. If you believe something we have published is factually incorrect, write to us.
